I am Avery Cook-Porter, a second-year political science and law & society double major earning a journalism certificate at the University of Cincinnati. I am from Hocking Hills, Ohio, where I lived until I began my full-time education in Cincinnati. I attended Logan High School, where I graduated as the Salutatorian and with a Summa Cum Laude distinction.

At the University of Cincinnati, I have had the opportunity to take on a multitude of roles in various on-campus organizations. These include being a fellow for the Portman Center for Policy Solutions, an ambassador and leadership team member for the University Honors Program, a Supplemental Instruction leader, the marketing director for HerCampus Cincinnati, a brother of Kappa Alpha Pi Pre-Law Fraternity, and more. Throughout these experiences, I have built upon skills necessary for professional development and academic success, including public speaking, interpersonal communication, research and analysis, and more. To learn more about a few of these experiences, feel free to visit the Honors Experiences tab, where I showcase my work.

My key interests are the U.S. government and political sphere, the U.S. judicial system and its functions, as well as creative methods of communicating about prominent issues in society. Along with these interests, I have also developed hobbies in photography, 2-D art, indie folk music, hiking, and many more, turning my love for photography into a business along the way. As for my future, I plan to attend law school after completing my undergraduate studies. I hope to be a family, immigration, or corporate lawyer, making a positive impact in the world in any way I am able.
